What would the future look like if it were imagined from Dakar, Bogotá, Kabul or Manila rather than from Silicon Valley? All over the Global South, other futures already exist. How can we gather to assemble them into new liberatory architectures for policy-making? Lateral universalism, an idea developed by decolonial thinker Souleymane Bachir Diagne, rejects the false universalism imposed by western colonialism and proposes a universal built sideways: through dialogue and encounters between equals, where each tradition can enrich the other and common patterns can emerge. That's the spirit of our “Zellij” Futures Circles. Afrofuturist containers where we can imagine and assemble other possible futures made of diverse concepts, practices, and philosophies, that already exist across the Global South. Workshops on 27th Oct, 29th Oct, 3rd Nov, 5th Nov and 10th Nov.
